Ordinary - the story
At 83, just lost his wife and dying from cancer, Tommy is the oldest ever doorman at Selfridges in Oxford Street, London. He is persuaded to write a novel about his service in the RAF World War Two, But, he feels his war was ordinary. Flying from India in a Catalina flying boat to land on the Rangoon River in enemy occupied Burma to drop off and supply spies, his main enemies were not the Japanese but the weather, the mechanics of the aeroplane and the boredom. After twenty pages its all done. Jennifer reminds him it's a novel, he can make stuff up.
